Re: Arcadia Osborn Neighborhood Association (“AONA”) and Urban Phoenix Project’s (“UPP”) July 27, 2020 Appellant Submission for ZA-541-19-4

Mr. Graham, Mr. Haddad and Ms. Bueno,

I am writing to you as President of the Willo Neighborhood Association and on behalf of our Board of Directors to express our disappointment at the insinuations against the Willo neighborhood and its leadership included in your joint Appellant Submission regarding the billboard case at the northwest corner of Central and Thomas. Specifically, on page 9 of your submittal, you called into question our credibility (paragraph 2); and our integrity (footnote 8). If you had questions as to our rationale for supporting this project, you could have simply picked up the phone or sent me an email. Instead, you chose to go low with your decision to paint our neighborhood association and its hard-working volunteers in a negative and unflattering light before the City of Phoenix and wider community.

At a time when our nation is experiencing wrenching levels of divisiveness over issues great and small, it is disheartening that you chose to impugn another volunteer organization with baseless accusations in an official public document. It is our hope that you will take a more collegial approach in the future on matters of mutual interest.

Sincerely,

Dr. Robert L. Cannon, President

Willo Neighborhood Association
