No offense to entering 2024, but every once in a while, there’s nothing better than kicking it old school—even just for a night. If you’ve found yourself yearning for a time when social media didn’t exist, phones were still attached to the wall by a spiral cord, when shoulder pads and big hair competed for attention… then our ’80s theme happy hour on Friday, January 12th is exactly what you need.
Our host with the most, Kelly Flood, opened the first Benetton store location in Arizona in the 1980s. As if we’re gonna pass up this inspiration for the raddest theme ever! Back then, being at the epicenter of youth culture meant SHOPPING (no, duh!), and Kelly really saw it or sold it all. Young people were unafraid to spend the money they were earning, which was often reflected in the things they purchased and how they portrayed themselves. Clothing, hair, and makeup were big and bold, music was synthy and experimental, and life was bodacious and fresh.
A lot of the trends from the ‘80s died out by the end of the decade, but resurrecting them will be a total blast at our 80s-themed happy hour. My dudes and dudettes, let’s make it epic.
We’ll be outside, so break out your leg warmers, acid-wash denim, and Members Only jackets!
Bring an 80s-inspired dish or dessert and drink. Over age 21, please.
