July 1, 2025 3rd/5th Avenue Update

3rd Avenue:
Work will continue the revision on 3rd/Encanto Blvd and will be completed before
the end of July. Please look for street closure signs.
From Edgemont into and north of Thomas, work will begin at the end of summer in
this area, as this will be the final stretch of the project.
5th Avenue:
Expect some of the speed humps to be modified (meaning higher) to be
consistent with the other speed humps, and this will take place in Mid-July.
5th Avenue south of McDowell into the Roosevelt area will be modified to
prevent as many drivers as possible from running over the green dividers. We
have all witnessed drivers driving into the bike lane south of McDowell.
I have asked once again, that “ONLY” been painted in the turn lanes at this
intersection.
Requested that the bump-outs south of Encanto Blvd be addressed for modification to
include reflectors, as we can see the tire marks on the bump-outs.
Important: The City is aware of the noise from the manhole covers at Virginia/5th
and Almeria/3rd, and I have asked them again to correct them to prevent noise
As a friendly reminder, we are now on year 8 of this project.
Not one penny for 3rd/5th is from the Willo Treasury.
Improvements will continue to be made. No plan is perfect. Please direct any specific questions to me at rlcannon7@gmail.com
