June 3rd, 2025 – Update on 3rd Avenue-Encanto Blvd.

Dear Willo Residents:
The City is developing a revised plan for the 3rd Avenue/Encanto Boulevard area. The City is well aware that the 2 STOP signs are getting hit (these STOP signs are technically for bicyclists to stop, and very few ever do).

When this area was designed, every effort was made to save resident parking, easements were not disturbed, the landscaped section was not impacted, and STOP signs were installed for vehicles to STOP (these are not the STOP signs being hit)

A substantial amount of volunteer hours was dedicated to this design and to discussions with stakeholders. Obviously, modifications are needed now, and this has been previously noted.

The Design was approved by all City of Phoenix Departments, including Police, Fire, and Sanitation.

In conclusion, when the 3rd/5th Avenue Committee receives the recommendation from the City for this intersection, the Committee will share it with the Board for review and feedback at an upcoming Board Meeting.

As a reminder, this City is paying 100% for this project and ZERO from the Willo Treasury.
